Non-Discrimination Policy

Effective date: May 25, 2026

Statement of Non-Discrimination

The Rotary Club of Pohnpei is committed to equal opportunity and prohibits discrimination in all aspects of its scholarship programs. We believe that every FSM citizen who meets the academic and program requirements deserves a fair opportunity to apply for and receive scholarship support.

The Club does not discriminate on the basis of:

  • Race, color, or ethnicity
  • Religion or religious belief
  • Sex or gender identity
  • Sexual orientation
  • National origin or ancestry
  • Disability (physical or mental)
  • Age (other than minimum eligibility requirements)
  • Marital or family status
  • Political affiliation or belief
  • Island, state, or municipality of origin within FSM

Scholarship awards are determined solely on the basis of academic merit, financial need, program eligibility criteria (such as field of study and minimum GPA), and the quality of the application as evaluated by the review committee. FSM citizenship is a mandatory eligibility requirement for both scholarship programs and is not a form of discrimination.

Equal Access to the Application Process

We are committed to ensuring that the scholarship application process is equally accessible to all eligible applicants. If you require an accommodation to access or complete the online application — for example, due to a disability, limited internet access, or language barrier — please contact us at [email protected] to discuss alternative arrangements.

This Portal is designed to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. See our Accessibility Statement for details.

Grievance Procedure

If you believe you have been subjected to discrimination in connection with the scholarship application process, you may file a grievance with the Rotary Club of Pohnpei. We take all discrimination complaints seriously and will investigate them promptly.

To file a grievance:

  1. Submit your complaint in writing to [email protected] with the subject line “Discrimination Grievance.” Include your name, contact information, a description of the alleged discrimination, the date(s) it occurred, and the names of any individuals involved.
  2. We will acknowledge receipt of your complaint within 5 business days.
  3. We will investigate the complaint and respond with our findings within 30 days. If additional time is needed, we will notify you.
  4. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you may escalate your complaint to the Rotary District 9930 or to the appropriate government authority in FSM.

Filing a grievance will not result in retaliation against the applicant. Your complaint and any investigation findings will be kept confidential to the extent practicable.
